Here is a food chain pyramid with an example from each group of consumers. The arrows on the left show the flow of energy as it travels up the pyramid. The primary consumer gets its energy from plants and other primary sources.

The food web below shows which animals eat from the primary sources and which animals eat the consumers from lower trophic levels.
