Invasive Species

They're are many invasive species in the temperate forest in BC. 4.6% of which are animals and 8.5% being invertebrates.  Some examples of invasive species would be the red eared slider turtle, the eastern snapping turtle and the eastern grey squirrel. The red eared slider turtle is a popular pet that has often been released into the wild. The eastern grey squirrel is depleting the red squirrel population which are native to the area. They are also displacing native birds of their habitats and eating their eggs. These squirrels are also competing with mice and voles.
