Physical Features

Temperate forests in British Columbia are complicated landscape of islands and fjords. The sea and land are closely intertwined and many species depend on the forest and the ocean. Many trees, mosses and shrubs and soil are in these forests and have large amounts of precipitation that’s consistent throughout the biome. This can cause snow or rain depending on the altitude. The soil is dark and moist but doesn’t have much nutrients because the moisture takes them out. Temperature, water, cloud cover, soil and light are abiotic factors that interact with biotic factors to form the rainforests unique ecosystem. They influence the type of living organisms that survive in the temperate rainforests. They are cooler and have a comfortable climate because coastal mountain ranges trap moist air masses as they rise from the Pacific Ocean. There is also frequent cloud cover that blocks out lots of the sunlight which keeps the area wet and moist.
